Akkineni Nageswara Rao is his maternal grandfather, and he is the half-brother of the actor Naga Chaitanya. In Sisindri (1995), he played the lead part of Akhil for the first time in a major motion picture (2015).
His two South Indian Filmfare Awards are proof of that fact. He is the captain of the Telugu Warriors cricket team, which participates in the Celebrity Cricket League.
