Movie Verdict
The comedy-driven flick Double XL also has some serious undertones. Many of the film’s moments were serious in nature yet were played for laughs. The film’s first half moves at a quicker speed and features a lot of exciting scenes performed by the film’s key actors, while the second half drags and is less engaging. The movie Double XL contains a number of scenes that will both make us think about our own bodies and give us the strength to not care about them. Many people in India, who have dealt with body shame themselves, will identify with the film’s hopeful final message.
When compared to Sonakshi Sinha, critics give higher marks to Huma Qureshi’s acting. These two actresses have equal screen time, but Huma Qureshi’s comedic timing and spontaneity steal the show. Sonakshi Sinha shined in a few scenes but appeared to struggle in others. Despite their brief appearances, both Mahat Raghavendra and Zaheer Iqbal gave strong performances. Everyone else in the cast carried out their duties effectively.
The movie Double XL seems fine. Composed by Sohail Sen and Kanishk Seth, the music is passable and features a few recognisable riffs. One of the film’s many highlights is the cinematography by Milind Jog. Although the frames are well-designed, DI’s overall presentation is subpar due to the usage of colours that look too vivid on screen. The film’s editing by Abhishek Anand is top-notch, and it skips over no filler. The quality of manufacture is quite good.
Direct Filmmaker Satramm Ramani achieves his goals of entertaining and challenging viewers with his latest effort, Double XL. Satramm Ramani managed to keep the audience engaged all the way to the finish of the film despite a few production issues.
In sum, the film’s idea and plot make for an entertaining and informative viewing experience.
