Movie Verdict
Happy Birthday is a theatrical film to watch as you will not enjoy it on OTT, one of the major assets of the film is the world-building we can say technically one of the best films in Telugu when a director wants to tell a story in a fictional world then directors biggest plus point is no need to think about logics.
However, the film lacks the core emotion though the audience didn’t think about that while the fun was happening if the emotion was placed well the film would be in a different league.
Lavanya Tripathi’s performance as Happy is outstanding, as she appeared super-energetic and her on-screen expression was excellent. Sathya’s portrayal of Max Pain is superb, as no one else could play his role, and Vennela Kishore’s portrayal of Ritwik Sodhi is, as usual, outstanding.
Kudos to Ritesh Raana for bringing unique subjects and engaging the audience, he has a strong command of writing comedy right from the first film we have seen situational comedy and that is a rare quality and in this film, he brilliantly blended all kind of comedy genres like surreal comedy, dialogue comedy and situational comedy, he has done every aspect so well and especially the serial sequence from Mathu Vadalara that worked so well.
Technically, Happy Birthday is excellent. Suresh Sarangam’s visuals and colour palettes are new to the Telugu audience, and Kaala Bhairava, as usual, composed a brilliant background score.
Finally, Happy Birthday is a must-see film in theatres, and if you’re a fan of unique films, you should definitely check it out.
