Movie Verdict

Maja Ma takes its time, in the beginning, to introduce us to each of its characters and the environment they inhabit. The movie’s story is dated, but the approach and narration keep it watchable. The movie contains a few riveting sequences, but it also drags with a few overly dramatic ones that aren’t essential. There are a few amusing exchanges and events that occur naturally in the course of the plot that will make us chuckle, but the movie’s more emotional parts fall flat and leave us feeling bored with the overly dramatic scripting.

Madhuri Dixit looks as beautiful as ever, and she did a respectable job in the character of Pallavi. Gajaraj Rao steals the show with his charismatic on-screen presence, impeccable comic timing, and heartfelt acting. If the Hindi film business could cast him in more movies, it would be fantastic. Ritwik Bhowmik, who plays Madhuri’s kid, is handsome on film and gives a solid performance. As in this film, Srishti Shrivastava is the type of actress who can make any character real via the quality of her performance. All of the actors, from Ninad Kamat and Rajit Kapur to Barkha Singh and the rest, gave their parts justice.

In terms of design, Maja Ma succeeds. It’s highly likely that the music composed by Souumil & Siddharth, Gourov Dasgupta, or Anurag Sharma will get you bopping along to the rhythms. The film’s score fits the mood perfectly. Debojeet Ray did a wonderful job behind the camera, and the movie had many vibrant scenes. The quality of production is satisfactory.

Director Anand Tiwari aimed for ‘Maja Ma’ to be a clean, fun film for the whole family. While there were a few shining moments, the film as a whole suffers from dated production values and stale dialogue.

As a whole, Maja Ma is appropriate for all ages to enjoy during Navaratri.
